Email Basics

  1. When corresponding with a student, ALWAYS CC the Parent.
  2. Do not set the client to automatically check your mail without prompting you for your password.
  3. If you receive any threatening Emails, contact the Technology Department immediately! Do not erase the email!
  4. The deletion of Emails requires two steps. You must empty your trashcan. (This process will be different depending on the client being used)
  5. You can use your Email account at work or at home.
  6. Treat any email as formal communication.
  7. Keep printed copies of any emails that may be needed as documentation.
  8. Do not share your password with anyone
  9. Do not open emails unless you can be sure of the sender
  10. Do not run any executable files received through emails unless you know what the file is to be used for.
  11. Do not use the unsubscribe option or reply in any way to spam
  12. Do not provide any confidential information such as bank accounts, credit card numbers, etc.
  13. DO NOT USE ALL CAPS….THIS INDICATES THAT YOU ARE YELLING TO THE RECIPIENT.
  14. Always log off when finished
